Background:

Design assignment for vector graphics class. The purpose of this assignment is to create multiple logo variations for a single product and/or company.

Concept

This logo is designed for a flower shop, called “Hanaya”. The owner of this flower shop had experienced studying in Japan for six years, and the word Hana in Japanese means flower. She wanted the logo to be simple and clean, so that everyone can get the business idea at a first glance. Therefore, I decided to use the flower elements come with the company name.

Process

Designing

First, I designed five options with different flowers show as the right.

Discussion

Because of the owner’s special love for Japan, she chose option1, which contains the traditional Japanese flower pattern – Tsubaki (Camellia) with the traditional relief printing style.

Coloring

I adopted the black-white logo within a Japanese traditional color pallet (Dentoushoku) to create an classic and elegant Japanese branding image.
