Background:
As a digital designer and web marketer, it is necessary to have a logo representing, identifying, and branding myself.
Concept
This personal logo contains three main points: the initial of my name, the shape of water, and the wave partner.
My first name is HONG (泓), in Chinese, which means deep, wide and clean water. My parents believe that water can form any shapes, contain, absorb and purify. They wish I can be like water and become a flexible, open-minded, and caring person.
In my point of view, I think water is calm and peaceful most of the time, but it is also powerful. After all, water is strong too. It is exactly like me. A small body containing a strong and brave heart inside, willing to face and overcome any challenges.
Therefore, I designed my logo as water shape with wave pattern inside, which represents my initial as well.
Process
Ideation
I believe that a logo should be simple and clean, meaningful and not complicated. I spent most of the time reflecting. I asked myself questions; What’s the meaning of my name? What kind of person am I? What messages do I want to express? After a series of self-review, I came up the logo with the name initials, water shape, and wave pattern.
Drawing
After gathering my ideas. I drew countless of shapes of water that could match my goal.
Digital Convertion
I combined the concept using my mastery of pen tool and deep understanding of shapes. Also, Considering the type of using, I decided to convert it into three versions.
