Background:
Designing for a group project at BCIT. A barcode scanner mobile application.
Concept
Previews is a barcode scanner mobile application. Users can look up product information and reviews by scanning the product’s barcode using the camera.
Since the main idea of this App is to use the camera to scan the barcode and get information about the product scanned. I designed the logo with 3 main points: the camera shape, the barcode pattern, and the question mark represent a capital P of the brand. I want to keep the logo simple and clean so that users can quickly understand what the App does.
Process
Ideation
I started the logo design by analyzing our brand first. What does our App do? who is our target user? Who are our competitors?
Digital Conversion & Discussion
Then I convert it to digital form using Adobe Illustrator. I made four options for our team members to chose. However, we had different opinions, some people like the camera idea, some like the question mark idea. As a solution, I combined them into one, by transfer capital P into a question mark. In addition, considering that the logo will be used for mobile. I resized the logo bigger to catch users attention.
